About

A project to reduce time and wasted resources for emergency services to have unmanned surveillance drones which can be rapidly deployed to analyse a scene of an accident, security threat, police incident or fire which can be used to analyse a scene and allow for a measured response from all emergency services. Drones could also be charged on selected slightly modified motorway gantries and repurposed while they charge for traffic control, speed camera, ANPR and other live view analysis.

Project brief

Problem
Speed and efficiency of first response to incidents across police, ambulance and fire emergency. Incidents can be analysed quickly so that the correct number of units can be deployed from each emergency service.
Audience
Governments, emergency services, all human beings
Progress so far
research — Looked into flight paths available for quick response in and around restricted airspace such as airports, city centres and concluded that waterways can be flown over with fewer restrictions than general populated areas.
Goals & timeline
Onboarding of all emergency services to push the government, Civil Aviation Authority (UK) or similar to start the approval process. Drone company onboard for providing suitable VTOL long distance drones. · Target: 2027-06-01
Resources needed
Funding for drones Approval from CAA Approval from emergency services Analysis of feasibility and best drone type for use

Snowball projects are built by a coalition of contributors. Choose the role that fits how you'd help — register or request to join in seconds.

  • Supplier

Deliver paid services to the project — design, dev, branding, marketing, legal, finance or fractional execs. Get matched to briefs that fit your specialism.

  • Founder

Join as a co-founder or founding team member. Take a craft-shaped role (product, engineering, growth, ops) with equity and help drive the project from idea to launch.

  • Mentor

Give a few hours a month of frank, sector-specific advice. Help the founder unblock decisions on fundraising, GTM, hiring or product.

  • Research Collaboration

Bring R&D, technical testing, data analysis or applied research capability. Co-design experiments, validate assumptions and publish outcomes with the project.

  • Stakeholder

Plug in as an ecosystem partner — council, network, accelerator or charity. Signpost the project, open doors in your patch, or offer grants and workspace.

  • Funder

Back the project with capital — angel cheque, syndicate, grant or institutional ticket. Get a momentum-scored view of progress and direct line to the founder.

Stakeholders

  • Emergency Services Leaders
    decision-makers

They will provide insights into operational needs and help facilitate approvals.

  • Government Officials
    regulators

They are crucial for obtaining necessary approvals and support for drone usage in emergency services.

  • Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
    regulatory body

They will need to approve the flight operations of drones in urban areas.

  • Drone Technology Experts
    technical advisors
